CBFWS: Household Partner

Title of Position: HOUSEHOLD PARTNER
Purpose/role within organization: 
The Household Partner is a dynamic role within the Poydras Home Green House Homes, small-house long term care model. This individual supports elders by performing a variety of household tasks, but keeping the elder in the center, ensuring meaningful, purposeful engagement is possible within the Real Home setting and collaborating as part of an empowered work team.
Duties and responsibilities associated with the position:
·        Recognize and respond to the needs of Elders
·        Promote autonomy of Elders in decision-making
·        Maintain confidentiality and privacy of Elder care, procedures, and documentation
·        Communicate with co-workers at all levels to meet the needs of Elders
·        Observe, monitor, and report to the Nurse any change in condition
·        Document observed data per organization policy
·        Implements programs as planned and assigned by Life Enrichment Director or designee
·        Encourages and assists residents in participating in individual and group programs.
·        Provide range of motion exercises as outlined and assigned by the care plan and with appropriate training
·        Provides any necessary Documentation
·        With training, May Prepare and serve meals, between meal, bedtime and other nutritional snacks per the posted menu and the stated preferences of the Elders
·        Observe standard precautions per organizational policy
·        Keep all areas of the home clean, performing routine housekeeping duties
·        Make occupied and unoccupied beds and change bed linens
·        Launder clothing, linen, and other articles
·        Follow established safety precautions and observe, monitor, and intervene in or report to the Guide any unsafe conditions.
·        Assure Elder calls for assistance are answered promptly
·        Report accidents and incidents when they occur
·        Report any abuse or suspected abuse to the Guide and/or Administrator immediately
·        Follow established smoking regulations and report violations
·        Attend and participate in orientation programs, on-going training, and educational classes
·        Perform other related duties as required by the Elder
General Qualifications for Position:
·        Must have the physical strength required to lift 50 lbs. or more with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing 25 lbs. or more.
·        Must be able to push, pull and/or continuously stand and walk routinely.
·        Must be able to stoop, kneel and crouch. Stooping requires bending the body forward and downward by bending the spine at the waist. Kneeling requires bending the knees and resting one’s weight upon the knees. Crouching requires bending the body downward and forward by bending the legs and spine.
·        Ability to read and comprehend simple directions.
